STNL's 3rd Anniversary: Experimenters

In 2013, STNL's backstory was fleshed out with the introduction of two new races: the Kraygans and the Experimenters, who created the Kleekoonanonis and Garadreads, respectively. However, the revelation about the Experimenters was revealed first, so let's focus on that.

 

The Experimenters were based off of the Dominion from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and were originally created to explain how the Garadreads got their supernatural intelligence. But then, I decided that they'd usurp the Garadreads as main antagonists. If this idea had come to pass, Journey's End would've seen Jercy lead an offensive with the Kleekoonanonis and Kraygans to destroy the Experimenters once and for all (also would've been a DS9 reference). Eventually, the Experimenters were (presumed) defeated in fungus3's Negative World War, but they kept showing up occasionally as Easter Eggs, hinting they'd survived. Perhaps they deserve a few new parts...

 

Other fun facts:

• The two main races of the Experimenters, the Hem'Jadars and Avorts, are based off of the Jem'Hadar and Vorta, respectively, of the Dominion.
• Fungus3 created the Jikken'Sha (Japanese for "experimenter"- coincidence?) to be the leaders of the Experimenters, which conflicted with my idea as their leaders (left). Eventually, I decided to reconcile the two conflicting accounts, stating that the Jikken'Sha were assumed to be their leaders since the Experimenters never show themselves (a bit like the Founders of the Dominion).
• The Roslians (by fungus3, left) were created around the same time as the Experimenters were getting established, and he decided that they made the Garadreads. In my backstory, this is explained by having the Roslians as full members of the Experimenters after being resurrected by them after a civil war.
